Study in France from Pakistan: applications, scholarships and visa
Understand the French application route before you start: programme choice, Etudes en France, academic review, visa and the documents Pakistan students need.
France has a clear application system for students living in Pakistan, but the sequence matters. For most degree students, Etudes en France is part of the route before the long-stay student visa.
Start with the programme
Choose a recognised programme and confirm its language, academic prerequisites, tuition treatment and application route. Public universities, specialist institutions and private schools can have very different costs and procedures.
Etudes en France from Pakistan
Campus France Pakistan says that, as a general rule, students in Pakistan applying for higher education in France should use the Etudes en France platform, subject to the published exceptions. The process can cover the application stage and the academic interview before the visa stage.
The 2027–2028 candidature calendar
For the 2027–2028 catalogue route, Campus France Pakistan currently lists applications from 1 October 2026 to 18 November 2026, followed by Campus France review from December 2026 to March 2027 and university review from March to April 2027. These dates apply to that campaign and should be checked again before you submit.
What happens after admission?
- 1Complete the required Etudes en France steps and receive the relevant Campus France confirmation.
- 2Prepare the France-Visas application and the supporting financial and academic documents.
- 3Book the visa appointment through the current official appointment route.
- 4Attend the appointment with the complete file.
- 5After the visa decision, prepare accommodation, travel and arrival documents.
How much money do you need?
Do not build a budget from tuition alone. Include accommodation, food, transport, insurance, visa and the first month’s deposit. Campus France Pakistan currently states that from 1 August 2026 the minimum proof of financial resources for a French student visa is €877.50 per month. Always re-check the current official requirement when your application is submitted.
Scholarships
France has government, university and other scholarship routes. The France Excellence Eiffel scholarship is one of the best-known government programmes for Master and doctoral candidates, but it is not a direct student application: French higher-education institutions submit the candidates.
Read the Eiffel scholarship guide → for the nomination process and current benefits.
A useful first step
If you are applying from Pakistan, prepare a one-page profile before you start: qualification, grades, subject, English/French level, preferred intake, budget and target degree. That makes programme selection much faster and prevents you from applying to programmes that do not match your academic background.
